This second-generation lens is roughly 30% lighter and 20% shorter than its predecessor, improving portability without compromising optical quality. The lens also features a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element and a dust- and splash-resistant design, making it suitable for outdoor shooting in challenging conditions.

Precision optics include multiple double-sided aspherical elements and a Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element to minimize aberrations and maintain clarity across the frame. The 11-blade rounded diaphragm creates smooth, expressive bokeh, while backlight resistance reduces flare and ghosting.
